Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our luxury authentication service

General Questions

What is the Luxury Auth Service?

We provide instant authentication verification for luxury watches and jewelry using ChronoStore's comprehensive database. Our service helps buyers, sellers, and collectors verify the authenticity of their luxury items.

How accurate is your authentication service?

Our authentication service is powered by ChronoStore's extensive database, which includes millions of verified luxury items. While we provide highly accurate results based on available data, we always recommend physical inspection by certified experts for high-value transactions.

Is this service free?

Basic authentication lookups are free. Premium services, including detailed reports and certificates, may require a fee. Contact us for pricing on bulk verifications or commercial use.

How quickly do I get results?

Authentication results are instant. As soon as you enter a valid serial number or authentication code, our system searches the database and provides immediate results.

Authentication Process

What information do I need to authenticate an item?

You'll need the item's serial number or authentication code. This is typically found on the case back of watches, on certificates of authenticity, or on jewelry hallmarks.

Where can I find the serial number?

For watches: Usually engraved on the case back or between the lugs. For jewelry: Often on the clasp, inner band, or accompanying certificates. Each brand has specific locations - check our brand guides for details.

What if my item doesn't have a serial number?

Some vintage pieces or certain jewelry items may not have serial numbers. In these cases, we recommend consulting with a certified appraiser or the brand's authentication service directly.

Can I authenticate vintage or antique pieces?

Yes, our database includes many vintage and antique pieces. However, older items may have limited records. We continuously update our database with historical data from auction houses and collectors.

Results & Certificates

What information is included in the results?

Results typically include: brand, model, year of manufacture, original retail information, and authentication status. Additional details may include movement type, materials, and special features.

What does "Not Found" mean?

A "Not Found" result means the serial number isn't in our database. This doesn't necessarily mean the item is fake - it could be a newer piece, a limited edition, or simply not yet recorded. We recommend additional verification methods.

Can I get a certificate of authentication?

Yes, we provide digital certificates for items found in our database. These certificates include a unique verification code and QR code for future reference.

Are your certificates accepted by insurance companies?

Many insurance companies accept our certificates as supporting documentation. However, requirements vary by insurer. We recommend checking with your specific insurance provider about their authentication requirements.

Brands & Coverage

Which brands do you authenticate?

We cover major luxury watch brands including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Cartier, and many more. For jewelry, we authenticate pieces from Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and other premier brands.

Do you authenticate custom or modified pieces?

Our database primarily contains original, unmodified pieces. Custom or aftermarket modifications may affect authentication results. We note any known modifications in our records when available.

Are limited editions included?

Yes, we maintain records of limited editions, special releases, and collaboration pieces. These often have unique serial number ranges that we track carefully.

How often is your database updated?

Our database is continuously updated with new releases, auction results, and verified pieces. We work with dealers, auction houses, and brands to maintain the most comprehensive records possible.

Security & Privacy

Is my search information private?

Yes, all searches are confidential. We do not store personal information unless you create an account or request a certificate. Serial numbers are logged anonymously for database improvement.

Do you share data with manufacturers?

We do not share individual search data with manufacturers. Aggregated, anonymous data may be used to help brands combat counterfeiting and track market trends.

What if I discover my item is counterfeit?

If our service indicates potential authenticity issues, we recommend: 1) Getting a second opinion from certified experts, 2) Contacting the seller if recently purchased, 3) Reporting suspected counterfeits to appropriate authorities.

How do you protect against fraud?

Our system includes multiple verification layers and cross-references data from various sources. We also monitor for suspicious patterns and work with law enforcement when necessary.
